However, the summary received was missing an EGM of a possible pause trigger. As per EquiMed’s policy, the patient was contacted because the maximum episode count had been received. The patient created a manual transmission that unlocked a 25 second pause trigger. An urgent report was created and the patient was implanted the following afternoon.

Fifty-five year old female with suspected atrial fibrillation was implanted with an Abbott Confirm RX implantable loop recorder on December 30th. On New Year’s Eve at approximately 1am, a high ventricular rate alert transmission was received. Technician interpretation showed intermittent atrial fibrillation and a sustained VT/VF episode with rates above 280 bpm. Both patient and physician were contacted and the patient was implanted with an ICD the following morning. Since implant, the patient has had a number of successful shocks delivered and is doing well. This episode demonstrates the need for 24/7 monitoring of all implantable loop recorders.
